For employers

Hire well and delegate with confidence.

What to delegate first

A simple way to find the hours you should hand off this month.

The best first tasks for a VA are the ones you do every week, that follow a pattern, and that don’t need your judgement to get right. Spend one week writing down everything you do in 30-minute blocks, then sort each item into one of three groups.

Hand off now

  • Inbox triage, replies to common questions and calendar booking
  • Data entry, CRM updates and list cleaning
  • Scheduling social posts you've already approved
  • Invoicing reminders and expense tracking

Hand off with a short process doc

  • Customer support replies using saved templates
  • Research and first drafts of reports or proposals
  • Lead lists and appointment setting

Keep for now

Big decisions, sensitive negotiations and anything you can’t yet explain in a few steps. As trust grows, many of these move up the list too.

How to write a great VA brief

Five things that help us match you with the right person faster.

A good brief doesn’t need to be long. It needs to be specific. These five points cover almost everything a matcher needs to know.

  1. The outcome. What should be different in three months? “I stop answering support emails” beats “help with admin”.
  2. The top tasks. List the three to five tasks that will take most of their time.
  3. Your tools. Name the software they’ll use every day, such as Google Workspace, HubSpot, Shopify or QuickBooks.
  4. Hours and overlap. How many hours a week, and which hours they must overlap with you.
  5. Budget. A rough hourly range helps us show you people at the right level of experience.

Not sure about some of it? That’s what the discovery call is for. Share what you know and we’ll fill in the gaps together.

Your VA's first 30 days

An onboarding checklist that sets your new hire up to succeed.

Before day one

  • Create their accounts and share logins through a password manager
  • Record two or three short screen videos of the tasks they'll start with
  • Agree on working hours, how to reach you and how quickly you'll reply

Week one

  • Hold a 30-minute kickoff call to walk through your business and goals
  • Start with two or three tasks, not ten
  • End each day with a short written update: done, in progress, questions

Weeks two to four

  • Ask them to turn what they've learned into process docs
  • Add new tasks one at a time once the first ones run smoothly
  • Book a 30-day review: what's working, what to change, what's next

Amplify checks in with you and your VA during this first month, so tell us early if anything feels off.

For virtual assistants

Stand out and land the right clients.

Build a profile that stands out

What clients look at first, and how to make it count.

Clients usually decide within seconds whether to read further. Lead with what you do and who you do it for.

  • Write a one-line headline: your specialty plus the kind of client you help
  • Keep your bio to three or four sentences focused on results
  • List only the tools you use confidently
  • Add two or three real work samples; screenshots and before-and-after examples work well
  • Use a clear, friendly photo with good lighting

Record a great intro video

60 to 90 seconds that help clients picture working with you.

Your intro video is often the reason a client books a call. Keep it short, natural and specific.

  1. Hello (10 seconds). Your name, where you’re based and your specialty.
  2. Experience (30 seconds). One or two examples of work you’ve done and the results.
  3. How you work (20 seconds). Your hours, how you communicate and the tools you use.
  4. Close (10 seconds). The kind of client or role you’re looking for next.

Record in a quiet room, face a window for light, and look at the camera, not the screen.

Applications that get interviews

Fewer, better applications beat a long list every time.

  • Read the whole job post and answer the client's actual question first
  • Mention one similar task you've done and what happened
  • Say how you'd approach the first week
  • Keep it under 150 words
  • Only apply to roles you can do well right now
